Selling farm machinery and inputs in Poland: the market, the rules and the trade fairs

Poland's agricultural output was worth 45 billion euros in 2025, and its farms are moving to bigger tractors. Poland is also a large maker of farm machinery and exports about as much as it imports. Türkiye's farm-machinery sales here are small, and its tractor exports to Poland, as Turkish statistics count them, are almost all road tractors for semi-trailers. The largest audited farm fairs are AGRO SHOW near Poznań and AGROTECH in Kielce; TSW in Kielce serves fruit and vegetable growers.

Polish agriculture in figures

Poland's agricultural output was worth 45.3 billion euros in 2025, 15% more than in 2024; crops made up 20.0 billion euros of it (Eurostat). The 2023 farm survey counted 916,050 holdings farming almost 14 million hectares, about 15 hectares each on average; 307,880 holdings had less than 5 hectares and 14,890 had 100 hectares or more (Eurostat). In 2025 Poland harvested about 37.3 million tonnes of cereals, 3.6 million tonnes of rapeseed, 7.0 million tonnes of potatoes and 4.2 million tonnes of tree fruit (GUS).

Polish farms had 1.46 million tractors in 2023. Tractors of 100 kW or more rose from 6.1% of the fleet in 2020 to 10.4%, and the number of holdings with 50 hectares or more grew from 40,700 to 43,800 (GUS). Polish manufacturers with 10 or more employees made and sold 1,928 farm tractors in 2025, at home and abroad, 26% fewer than in 2024 (GUS).

Poland's imports of farm machinery and inputs in 2025 (Eurostat):

Product group (HS code)Polish imports in 2025 (million euros)Change on 2024
Fertilisers (31)1,933+25%
Tractors other than road tractors, mainly farm tractors (8701 91 to 8701 95)895+22%

Spraying appliances, including farm sprayers (8424)521+14%
Soil preparation and cultivation machinery (8432)520+24%
Other farm, poultry and bee-keeping machinery (8436)235+14%
Milking and dairy machinery (8434)82+51%

Germany is the largest supplier of farm tractors, tillage and harvesting machinery; China is second in harvesting machinery, and Russia supplied about a third of Poland's fertiliser imports in 2025 (Eurostat). For goods arriving from another EU country, Eurostat records the country they were shipped from (Eurostat). Poland is a strong exporter too: in 2025 it sold 1,510 million euros of tillage, harvesting, dairy and other farm machinery abroad and bought 1,527 million euros (Eurostat), and Germany is its biggest customer (PAIH).

Where Turkish farm suppliers stand in Poland

In Turkish statistics, tractors are among Türkiye's fifteen largest exports to Poland: 98.5 million US dollars in 2025, up 31.6% (Ministry of Trade). Polish import records show what these tractors are: in 2025, 98.7% of Poland's tractor imports from Türkiye were road tractors for semi-trailers. Farm and other tractors from Türkiye came to 1.0 million euros, 0.1% of Poland's imports of these tractors (Eurostat). Türkiye's shares of Polish imports in this sector in 2025 (Eurostat):

Product (HS code)Türkiye's share of Polish imports, 2025Türkiye's rank among suppliers
Grain-milling and grain-cleaning machinery, not farm-type (8437)25.2%1st
Self-loading or self-unloading farm trailers (8716 20)1.0%11th
Soil preparation and cultivation machinery (8432)0.8%12th
NPK and other mixed fertilisers (3105)1.5%13th
Other farm, poultry and bee-keeping machinery (8436)1.3%13th
Harvesting and threshing machinery (8433)0.3%18th
Spraying appliances (8424)0.4%19th
Tractors other than road tractors, mainly farm tractors (8701 91 to 8701 95)0.1%19th

This first place is mostly in machinery for the grain-milling industry rather than for farms, and in a small market: Polish imports were 17.4 million euros in 2025, and Türkiye's share has moved between 5% and 25% since 2023 (Eurostat). Trade also runs the other way: Türkiye bought 90.1 million US dollars of harvesting and threshing machinery from Poland in 2024 (Ministry of Trade). Turkish makers of implements, trailers and livestock or grain equipment therefore meet strong Polish and German competitors at Polish fairs.

Turkish export figures (in US dollars) and Polish import figures (in euros, by country of origin for goods from outside the EU) are separate series and do not match exactly.

Rules for selling farm machinery and inputs in Poland

  • Customs: farm machinery, tractors and trailers are industrial goods and move from Türkiye to Poland under the EU–Türkiye customs union without customs duty (European Commission).
  • Tractors and trailers: farm tractors are type-approved under Regulation (EU) No 167/2013, which has applied since 1 January 2016; for trailers, towed equipment, track-laying tractors and special purpose tractors, the manufacturer may choose EU approval or the national rules. Instructions and safety information must be in Polish (Regulation 167/2013). In Poland, the approval authority is the Director of the Transport Technical Supervision (TDT) (Act of 14 April 2023).
  • Other farm machinery: the Machinery Regulation excludes farm tractors but covers machinery mounted on them. It applies from 20 January 2027 and replaces the Machinery Directive (Regulation 2023/1230); see our machinery guide for what changes.
  • Fertilisers: fertilisers sold with the CE marking as EU fertilising products must meet the Fertilising Products Regulation, which has applied since 16 July 2022, including its rules on components and labelling (Regulation 2019/1009).
  • Carbon border rules: nitrogen fertilisers, NPK and other mixed fertilisers (except those with only phosphorus and potassium), potassium nitrate, ammonia and nitric acid are covered by the EU carbon border mechanism. An importer that brings in no more than 50 tonnes of covered goods a year is exempt, and certificates go on sale on 1 February 2027 (European Commission, Regulation 2023/956, Regulation 2025/2083).
  • Sprayers in use: in Poland, field and orchard sprayers must be inspected within five years of purchase and then at least every three years (PIORiN).

For the customs union, origin documents and CE marking in general, see exporting to Poland.

The farm fairs that matter

Poland's farm fairs run from November to September, indoors in winter and outdoors in late spring and September. Audited figures come from the Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry (PIPT 2025, PIPT 2024); the TSW figures are the organiser's (TSW).

Who you meet at these fairs

  • AGROTECH: farmers and distributors of machinery and farm inputs, with experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and the farm agencies on site; the fair covers tractors, tillage, sowing, fertilising and harvesting machinery, livestock equipment, drones and farm software. Its first Agro Africa B2B Forum in 2026 arranged 150 business meetings between Polish and African companies, and the second forum is on 13 March 2027 (Targi Kielce, AGROTECH, AGROTECH 2026).
  • AGRO SHOW: an open-air show on about 130 hectares; besides machinery makers, suppliers of fertilisers, seed and plant protection products and finance firms exhibit (AGRO SHOW, AGRO SHOW).
  • Warsaw Agro Week: precision farming (GPS and RTK guidance, drones, sensors, software and robotics), and Agro Sourcing Expo for seed, fertilisers, biostimulants and crop protection, aimed at buyers and distributors (Ptak Warsaw Expo).
  • TSW: fruit and vegetable growers, with a conference programme and a business-to-business zone for fresh-produce contracts (TSW).

Makers of trailers, implements and tillage machinery fit AGROTECH and AGRO SHOW; fertiliser and input suppliers fit Agro Sourcing Expo and AGRO SHOW; and makers of orchard, greenhouse and irrigation equipment fit TSW and the orchard fair of Warsaw Agro Week.

Does Türkiye sell many tractors to Poland?

Very few farm tractors. Tractors are a large Turkish export to Poland in Turkish statistics, but in Polish import records 98.7% of them in 2025 were road tractors for semi-trailers. Türkiye had 0.1% of Poland's imports of farm and other tractors.

Which Turkish farm products sell in Poland?

In 2025 Türkiye was the first supplier of grain-milling and grain-cleaning machinery, a small market that serves mills more than farms. Its share of Polish imports was 1.5% in NPK and other mixed fertilisers and 1% or less in farm trailers, tillage, harvesting and milking machinery and sprayers.

What rules apply to selling tractors in Poland?

Farm tractors need type-approval under Regulation (EU) No 167/2013; for trailers and towed equipment, the manufacturer may choose EU approval or the national rules. Instructions and safety information must be in Polish, and in Poland the approval authority is the Director of the Transport Technical Supervision (TDT).

Are fertilisers covered by the EU carbon border mechanism?

Yes. Nitrogen fertilisers, NPK and other mixed fertilisers (except those with only phosphorus and potassium), potassium nitrate, ammonia and nitric acid are covered. An importer that brings in no more than 50 tonnes of covered goods a year is exempt, and certificates go on sale on 1 February 2027.

Which Polish farm fairs does the Turkish Ministry of Trade support?

AGROTECH was on the 2026 list for individual stands and AGRO SHOW on the 2025 list. The 2027 lists had not been published by October 2026.
